Summary

A Russian plot to seize the Panama Canal plunges President Jack Ryan into a desperate fight for his life in the latest entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series。For a century, the Panama Canal has served as the path between the seas。 Control of this vital waterway is the difference between free trade and chaos in world markets。So when Panamanian President Rafael Botero asks for a show of support against the socialist opposition, his old friend President Jack Ryan can’t turn down an invitation to visit the country, but what seems like an ordinary opportunity to preach the values of democracy quickly turns into a nightmare when a full-blown coup d’état erupts。President Ryan and his Secret Service team are cut off and out of communication。 In Washington, the Vice President is coordinating a military response, but there's still one more obstacle。One of the main forces behind the coup is the ruthless criminal organization known as the Camarilla。 They’ve had their tentacles deep inside the plot to overthrow the government。 All of their hard work has just presented them with an unexpected opportunity they can’t resist—the chance to kill President Jack Ryan。

President Jack Ryan helping to stop a takeover of the Panama Canal, hence the government of Panama, by the Russians via an organization known as the Camarilla。 Entertaining, action packed suspense, and danger everywhere he goes is just part of the excitement this book exudes。 Getting to know new participants and catching up with old friends makes me want to read just one more chapter。 This series makes me proud to be an American。

Cameron writes Jack Ryan books that are actually better than the Clancy ones- and this is no exception。 Know that President Jack Ryan is a relatively minor player in this fast paced tale of the US team chasing an evil villain, a coup attempt in Panama, and a little bit (because it's Jack Ryan) of Russian maneuvering。 As always, there are a lot (a lot) of characters but it's not hard to keep them straight。 This starts with a bang and continues to barrel along adding in elements of surprise along Cameron writes Jack Ryan books that are actually better than the Clancy ones- and this is no exception。 Know that President Jack Ryan is a relatively minor player in this fast paced tale of the US team chasing an evil villain, a coup attempt in Panama, and a little bit (because it's Jack Ryan) of Russian maneuvering。 As always, there are a lot (a lot) of characters but it's not hard to keep them straight。 This starts with a bang and continues to barrel along adding in elements of surprise along the way。 I know that some believe these can't be read as standalone but frankly, I don't think it much matters because although the installments build on each other (and it's nice to spend time with those you've already met, such as Chilly), it's just fine to go it solo。 I'm actually hoping to see a couple of characters we met here again, Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC。 No spoilers。 I very much enjoyed this page turner。 。。。more

I'm a huge fan of Marc Cameron's Arliss Cutter series。 Adding Tom Clancy's fabulous Jack Ryan series and Cameron's US Marshall background together was bound to produce a killer political thriller。。。。。and it did。 When President Ryan and his protection team are cut off and stranded, a race to save them will become a thriller so good you'll not be able to set the book down。 The characters are well developed。 We've followed Jack Ryan through so many adventures and the elections。 This bad guys do not I'm a huge fan of Marc Cameron's Arliss Cutter series。 Adding Tom Clancy's fabulous Jack Ryan series and Cameron's US Marshall background together was bound to produce a killer political thriller。。。。。and it did。 When President Ryan and his protection team are cut off and stranded, a race to save them will become a thriller so good you'll not be able to set the book down。 The characters are well developed。 We've followed Jack Ryan through so many adventures and the elections。 This bad guys do not know what they've taken on。 。。。more

Jack Ryan #37 This is Marc Cameron's latest and last addition to this series。 Set during Jack Ryan's Presidency, this is not a standalone。 You really need to have read the books before his Presidency to understand the hand that he has been dealt and his background/backstory - it will just give the entire story so much more depth。 Of course you have classic Jack Ryan and his moral compass and his need to protect the United States - and his need to go above and beyond what he is called to do。 With Jack Ryan #37 This is Marc Cameron's latest and last addition to this series。 Set during Jack Ryan's Presidency, this is not a standalone。 You really need to have read the books before his Presidency to understand the hand that he has been dealt and his background/backstory - it will just give the entire story so much more depth。 Of course you have classic Jack Ryan and his moral compass and his need to protect the United States - and his need to go above and beyond what he is called to do。 With Russian warships in the Panama Canal, you will get a new twist on the US/Russia relationship。 This is a must read for Jack Ryan fans。 。。。more

Marc Cameron is one of my favorite authors as well, so when he joined the Ryanverse, I was very excited。 While I’m disappointed his time writing for Jack Ryan has come to an end, I am interested to see is next for Cameron with his other series。 Tom Clancy Command and Control is a great finale to his time with the Ryans。 。。。more
